EPS laying

 

Because EPS is very light, manual paving is adopted, the key is flatness control and firm connection. EPS block is laid on the construction base surface, which must be kept dry. When laying blocks, tractors and other heavy machinery are not allowed to drive directly on EPS blocks. EPS blocks are laid by staggered joints from bottom to top, and the overall paving quality largely depends on the laying accuracy of the construction base surface and the lowest layer.

The gap and stagger between EPS blocks should be as small as possible. The bottom layer is adjusted by cushion, and the middle layer is leveled with non shrinkage cement mortar. In order to prevent the EPS blocks from dislocation, the double claw type connector is used between each layer of the block, the single claw type connector is used on the top and side of the block, and the pin connection is used between the lowest EPS block and the construction foundation surface and soil foundation.

On the top surface of the top EPS block, a layer of reinforced concrete slab shall be poured. It can not only improve the mechanical characteristics of EPS, make the traffic load and the upper pavement structure load evenly spread, prevent the damage of EPS due to stress concentration, but also make the EPS block form a good whole and prevent harmful substances from invading into the EPS block.
